Amanda is available to work with individuals and organizations to improve their written work at all stages of the writing process. All projects are different, but some guidelines are noted below.

Editing

  • Developmental Editing

Developmental editing focuses on the big picture: whether the writer is presenting the best information in the best way for their audience. Edits are primarily in the form of comments and suggestions for material/topics to add, delete, or move to meet the text’s objective. Detailed editing to correct sentence-level issues is not included.

  • Line Editing

Line editing involves reading through the text carefully, sometimes multiple times. Edits correct errors in spelling, grammar, punctuation, and formatting, but also extend to style, tone, and some fact checking.

  • Proofreading

Proofreading is the lightest form of editing. It involves fixing errors in spelling, grammar, punctuation, and formatting. It does not include fact checking or suggestions for content improvement or restructuring.
